  1. with all due respect I liked Digimon frontier. The Royal knights arc was indeed fucking stupid, however there were some things that I personally enjoyed.

1.) I didn't mind the change, and they still draw on the digimon spirits, becoming one

2.) I liked the characters evolving and growing

2.) The final battle with Lucemon was still cool even if cliche

  2. more specifically, there was a lot of annoying filler, but during the dark continent arc, things actually were fairly compelling. Tommy learns to stand up for himself and to realize that in true friendship you don't just boss people around and expect them to give you everything, JP overcomes his inner doubts and jealousy, takuya learns to take responsibility for his actions, as well as gaining the maturity to be a leader, koji opens up and stops being a lone wolf, even zoe manages to learn the difference between being nice and being a pushover.

Also, some of the villains do genuinely see themselves as heroes (including Lucemon the primary antagonist). Granted the audience is well aware that they are full of shit, but they aren't all mustache twirling for the evulz
